The FSM will tell you the capacity. It is avaiable on this website.
If you take it into the shop, they will probably do the following;
1)Hook up guages to check the low and high side of the compressor.On a 95 maxima, the low side should be about 30 psi and the highside should be around 255 psi
2) The FSM has an excellent review of what the gauge readingsmean. If the readings are not normal, then the technician willnot add any more r134 if the low side is higher than 30. Theymay check the static readings of the PSI (car not running) to seeif will hold pressure.
3) To further check for leaks, they will also probably evacuate thesystem (get all the oil and freon out) and check to see if the systemwill hold a vacuum. If it holds a -30 G on the high side for "a while"your system may not be leaking. You cant have hardly any air in yourAC, just r134 and compressor oil.
You need to read an AC car repair manual so you dont burn up yourcompressor.
