91 300zx TT - My air conditioner let off what seemd like a big leak while idling. I traced it to a brass fitting on the compressor. I pressured the system and the hole on the brass fitting was letting air out. Does anyone know what would be the cause of this? What is the repair?

Is it as simple as replacing the brass fitting or is there another problem that caused the over pressure?

Also, should there be a cover for this hole?

sounds liek the safty valve and sounds like it's blown, most a/c systems have a little valve designed to fail at a specific pressure, so I suppose your gonna need a new valve and then you get to find otu why it blew, you'll need a full manifold gauge set to determine high and low pressure levels as it's charged to determine the problem, if I had to guess I'd sau it's the expension valve, located inside the a/c box under the dash, huge PITA to get to and replace

Thanks for your reply.

Do you or anyone have instructions or illustrations for this expansion valve replacement? How can one tell if it needs replacement?
