Okay, I got the A/C system vacuumed out today, and I went straight home to put a belt on the compressor and recharge the system. I'm putting Freeze-12 in it for anybody who cares. SO I hooked up the can tap to my oil charge can and tapped the can, but I don't think the system is taking much in, if any.

Should the vacuum in the system be strong enough to pull the oil charge in no problem? Because I've been sitting here for 10 minutes and the can still feels full.

Any help is appreciated, plz!

How do you know the vacuum is still there? Did you leave on gauages for the required 15 minutes with pump off to check fore leaks? Evap/o-ring or other leak?

Vacuum plus pressure in can...............Freeze 12 ugh, why not pure butane and propane.

How did the 2 ounces of oil look that came out during vacuum down process.

I didn't do the vacuum procedure, a shop did it for me. The mechanic, who I've known for a couple of years now, told me the vacuum stayed steady, which probably means there are no leaks.

Also, when I flick on the A/C switch, the light turns on and the system goes into fast idle, but the clutch stays off. Possibly due to a low freon switch? What is the pressure limit of this switch before it kicks off?

Ok, I think I found the problem. There is a connector on the compressor that isn't connected, which has a wire that goes into the A/C clutch. The problem is, I can't find the other end of it. The connector is the one that has the screw and the brass fitting holding it on. Anybody know where it could possibly go?

Wow, I feel stupid. It was sitting right under the air filter.

So I ran the car w/ the a/c on for about 15 minutes, during which the little 4 oz. can of oil still was not emptied. Does that seem wrong to anybody else? How long should a can usually take?
