Recently had my a.c retrofitted, The system was evacuated by some local shop, but I decided to do the rest on my own once the R12 was removed. I searched on the net and found a kit from interdynamics that came with 3 cans of r134a and two adapter ports, basically charged the system and let it run. It ran perfectly for two days. The second day was extremely hot and suddenly in traffic I heard a hissing sound, after pulling over on the side I noticed that it was coming through some small bolt looking port on the high pressure line where it bolts on the compressor (90 240sx) This continued leaking until all the pressure was lost. Now the a.c is blowing warm air. Also I tried using a can to refill it but even at low pressure this thing kept leaking. I had no Condenser fan since it died way back. I would like to know what I should do now since it is getting real hot out here I need A/C!

you blew your compressor line seals, they need to be changed when switching to 134a mostly because they are old and 134a doesn't like them very well. replace all the seals, vacuum the system down, refill and enjoy

did u get the r-12 oil out??? 134a runs on ester/or pag oil and is NOT compatible, all of the old oil has to be removed or u risk destroying your compressor.

Ok thanks a million guys for responding, do u see the tiny red circle on the pic above near the compressor. That pic suppose to be identify the relief valve that keeps spraying out the oil and refridgerant. Please someone tell me what I should do to stop it!!!

The oil part is very true. If they mix it'll eventually kill the system. As for the leaking, that silver can is your drier. I'm not certain, but I don't think it's a pressure relief valve on top of it. More likely a pressure switch that's gone bad. Are there wires attached to the part that's leaking? If so, then it's some kind of sensor, and it's not supposed to vent--ever.

after some investigation, that IS a relief valve right on top of the discharge side of the compressor....never seen one before on automotive system. i say pull it and plug it or put a new one in there.

I decided to get an expansion valve, High pressure cut out switch, a vacuum pump, relief valve plug and receiver drier. I am going to start this project on Thursday Night. vacuum and recharge the system to 70% of capacity.
