was perfectly cold the past 5 days since i bought the car... driving tonight i had it turned off and when i went to turn it back on, i got no lights from the AC console... it had burned out the fuse in the footwell.. i replaced it and everything worked with the compressor turned off (all the vents. power levels, hot/cold) but when i switched the AC compressor back on again, it toasted the fuse again? anyone know anything about this?? my car WAS converted to R-134 if that helps anyone.

Mike

---EDIT----I dont get any fast idle either when i turn the AC compressor on and off weather the fuse is replaced or not (it blows the instant i hit the button to turn compressor on....) it did fast idle 4 hours ago and work perfect.... that car freezes me on 1 in florida

You got a short somewhere in the switch's wiring I would suppose.

Go under the hood and unplug the compressor wire and install the fuse and turn it on if the fuse doesn't blow than it's the clutch. You can check this by removing the ground at the compressor coil and check the power led to grd and check the coil for 0 ohms there should be approx 3-8 ohms resistance in coil. If the clutch is bad you may have to replace the compressor. The clutch removal usually damages the comp.shaft when pulling. If the fuse does blow then the short is elsewhere.
