A/C help please?

i have a 90 240sx and i'am having an a/c issue. when i'am driving in this AZ heat, the a/c blows really cold but only for like a minute or two then cycle off for about 1-2 minutes. when it cycle off it blows nothing but hot air - enough to start sweating then the a/c cycles on again... i understand that the a/c should cycle on and off at a certain interval, but not this quick right? my question is:

Is this normal? If this is not normal, what should i check for?

BTW I did recharge the a/c last year.

how much freon is in it,exactly? If the charge is correct,not to much not to little then you need to start checking pressures and see where they are at to help determine what is cycling it. make sure your condensor fan is coming on as well.
