Hello I'm new here so please excuse me if this was posted in the wrong section.
I have a 95 240sx that has developed an A/C problem in the past few days. My A/C has always worked great and blown really cold. Monday when I got off from work I got in my car and started driving and noticed that the air was blowing warm. When I came to a stop at a red light I turned off the a/c switch and I heard the compressor disengage. I hit the A/C switch again and the compressor clicked on and stayed on but continued to blow warm. It does not fast cycle.
I made a stop on the way home and when I got out I checked and the compressor was spinning. I shut the car off and went inside the store, when I came back out and started the car the A/C worked fine. It worked fine yesterday. This morning when I got into my car I turned the A/C on to clear the windshield and it to FOREVER to clear. It was cool outside so I didn't think much of it. After driving for about 5 miles I noticed it wasn't as cold inside the car as it should be. It came on about 5 miles later and quickly got the inside of the car ice cold and worked for the rest of the drive into work.
Basically the compressor runs but blows warm air. This is an intermittent issue.
Both times this has happened it has been quite humid. Monday was hot and muggy. This morning was cool but pretty foggy.
When the A/C works it blows ice cold so this makes me think it's not low on refrigerant. When I move the temp adjuster to hot I can hear a change in the way it sounds. It sounds like it is being blown through a filter(heater core?) so I think the air dam is working correctly.
What do you guys think?
