So i took my car out of storage about 6 months ago and my A/C hasnt been working. It was in storage for about 3 years, but from what i remember the A/C didn't work back then either. I have the indicator lights on the dash working, the heat works, but when i turn the dial down to 65 while in the 'Auto" setting the air never gets cold. The 7.5 amp fuse underneath the hood keeps popping and i don't know where to go from here.

Any advice is greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Its probably a short or a high current draw from a component on the compressor solenoid circuit. If you are willing to blow a couple more replacement fuses, you can have someone turn the temp down for you while watching to see if the compressor tries to click on right before it blows. Though it seems pretty clear that it is on that part of the circuit from what you describe.

Thanks for your reply. So what you're saying is if it's a short it'll blow right when anything tries to use that fuse, and if its the compressor it'll blow right when the climate control decides it needs to use the Compressor?

This will tell me whether or not i need to check the wiring, or if i need a new compressor?

A new compressor is really not needed because its electrically controled. So all you have to do is find out if the magnetic clutch is the problem. Assuming we are talking about the fuse that the AC relay is on. Try replacing the relay first with a known good one for the hell of it.

And also check to make sure the ac compressor spins freely. Lossen the belt if you must...
