A/C fixed, BUT

Well folks, when we pulled off the old blower motor we tested it. It worked like a charm. So we went back to what you all had originally said...a/c relay. We replaced the relay and what do you know...my a/c worked...on all 4 fan speeds...Then it reverted back to its old ways. Once again it only works on high speed. So I have yet another question for you. In investigating the first time, someone mentioned an a/c amplifier or something. Do any of you know what that is and if it would cause the relay switch to work only on hi (maybe "burn up" the other settings)? At least it is cooling again and I am happy to be back in my car, but I would love to get this thing straightened out. Thanks.
