well, i am selling my car and the guy who wants it wants me to fix the a/c and and he'll buy the car for my asking price, and i was told by my mech. that i have a leak in the compressor and the evaproator. if i want to switch to 134a over r-12 how would it work if i only flush the system, and not take it aprt and flush through the a/c fix leak stuff from autozone, and maybe replace the evaporator? like what would happen to the a/c system if i dont fluch all the oil out?

Thanks

Greg

you'd need to change the seals. the 134 eats the r12 seals.

Then just by a retrofit kit, draw a vacuum on the system and recharge it. Goodlick man. The compressor might have to be replaced if its leaking where it comes together. If you have a leak in the evap that prob has to be replaced. ANd That is a PITA. i am doing it right now and you have to have the whole dash completely out of the car. Gay The seals arent as necessary but always a good idea. Did he die the system? You will also want to replacve the oil thats in the system with PAG oil because r12 uses mineral oil. Some of the oil wont hurt because it will settle in the system but dont leave it all in there. I do retrofits at work all the time and i have never flushed a system in my life
