A/C .........fan

My A/C system seems to have glitches.

Set temp dial at blue coldest....A/C control at AC max Fan at 1 or 2 to start and hit the AC button....seems easy enough.

After a while needing cooler air , move the fan to 4 and the fan becomes very loud, almost as if there is something flapping in it, same thing happens on the highway, and fan efficiency decreases..........any clues
