I have a 2004 I35. I have water leaking into the passenger floor board area. The air conditioning/evaporator box is leaking into the compartment. I've tried taking a piece of wire to clean it out. I have tried using an air compressor. Nothing seems to be working.

I checked out the cabin filter and it hadn't been replaced in a while. Alot of debris. I cleaned it all out and replaced the filter.

HOWEVER - it does not appears you can access the drain hole through the cabin air filter opening. It appears the drain hole is on the other side of the evaporator coil - no access. So, I am wondering if it is possible to take off the bottom half of the a/c / heater box to access the drain hole area. Any thoughts or suggestions? I see some of the screws but was just wondering if anyone had tried this apporach.

I don't want to pull the entire a/c heater box out because I will have to disconnect the a/c system and I would rather not go down that road.

The drain hole is towards the front LH corner of the Evap-Blower housing. So you must be able to access the hole/drain tube from the firewall, pax side. Follow the LP/HP compressor tubes as they go through the firewall *and then to Evap). Further down and to the right (when facing the firewall) you should be able to see the drain hole and the corresponding drain tube. In some cases, the drain tube is missing , for whatever reason. You can then use compressed air or in combination with a wire to clean it..

Thank you but I've done that. After a day it appears to clog again. I think there is some debris in there that needs to be cleaned out. It won't come out of the hole. So, I was wondering if I could drop the bottom half of the blower/evaporator box to see if there's a way to clean it out.

The diagram and related procedures shown on page HA-117 in the link below should help you.
