Engine kept shutting off - Nissan Dealer(Beau Townsend in Vandalia, Ohio) - The A/C compressor isn't working property, interfering with the main belt, shutting down engine. I can still drive as long as the A/C indicator light is OFF! The A/C light is automatically on when engine is started. I have to start the battery prior to starting the engine (push start button twice without pressing brake), then turn A/C light off, then start engine. The heat can still be used as long as that A/C indicator light it OFF!

Just in case anyone else experiences this problem, As far as the Nissan dealer knows, there have been no recalls on the part. Mine just gave out. They do however want to run a complete diagnostic to ensure the battery and alternator are both running at full capacity. I got lucky on this one! Completely covered under warranty!!!! And of course, my keyles fob battery needs replaced. Luckily I have a spare, but that is only going to cost $6.00. Thank you Vandalia Ohio Nissan Dealer! They were GREAT!!!! (Lexus wanted $90 to replace my friends key fob battery. They went to ‘All About Batteries’ and purchased the same battery (watch battery) for $10.00!!)

**one last thing - THE ENTIRE KEYFOB GOES INTO THE FOB PORT! DO NOT REMOVE KEY FROM FOB AND STICK IN PORT!!! YOU WILL NOT GET IT BACK!!!! TECK WILL HAVE TO REMOVE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL BOX TO REMOVE THE KEY:) I didn't feel so bad when I found out a man had done the same thing....

How many miles and year is your car? Typical A/C parts don't go bad until well into the 100,000 miles range. Must just be a freak unit on yours.

If the A/C compressor is physically unable to spin due to bad internal damage, causing the drive belt to then stop the engine, that's some serious damage to the compressor....which can also lead to damage due to bits and pieces breaking off into the dryer/condenser etc. along the A/C system chain! Let us know how it all checks out.

Since this is fortunately covered by the warranty in your case, make sure to find out if they can replace the drive belt along with the A/C compressor and any related components since it's possible to get worn when put under stress from moving/non moving components fighting over it, as you described (as seen by the compressor stalling the engine out).

As for the Key FOB, LOL yes you don't want to remove the door lock key itself from the FOB when inserting the FOB into the temporary low battery helper gizmo. BTW just to make it clear, that does not charge the FOB as I've seen some people say before on here. The battery is a button sized one inside and may need to be replaced usually about 12-18 months apart due to how much use it sees (remote keyless entry function etc.).
