Hei!I recently bought '95 240sx. But without a/c compressor. After the accident the compressor went broke and previous owner throw it away. Now I found the compressor, but this is 1st generation 240 sx. And the question is now: has the 1st gen and 2nd gen the same 2,4 l engine or not and is the compressor same or not. Thanks!

Doesn't a 91 S13 use R12 freon and a 95 S14 use R134A freon? I don't think you can do that. I could be wrong so someone correct me.

He is right.... if the 95 S14 has a R134a compressor, you won't be able (nor should you even try) to use a R12 compressor. However, I am not sure if the 95 uses R134a, someone with an S14 comfirm this please.

Well, does anyone know if the 95 uses R134a or not? And what about engine, whats this s13 and s14 thing means? From outside both looks same.

Yes, it was a federal mandate starting in the '93 or '94 model year.

S13 and S14 are chassis codes (body changes if youd like). A S13 is a 1st gen 240sx (here) and the S14 is the 2nd Gen. In Japan you have S13, S14, S15 designations. Sadly the S15 never set foot here.

you cant put an s13 compressor in an s14 because the brackets and bolt patterns on the compressor are different because i blew my engine in my s13 and bought an s14 engine by accident but no difference, when i went to put the compressor on it wouldnt fit so i switched the bracket from the old engine and worked perfectly

The freon type change was somewhere in the 93 model run. I have an early 93 and it is equiped with R12, but a late 93 in a junkyard near me has 134a.
