My 2000 Frontier pickup will not blow cold all the time, but when it does it will freeze you out!! The a/c compressor will not kick in all the time. I can sometimes get it to work but most of the time it won't. Any thoughts?????

I would check your refrigerant levels... There are several conditions that have to be met for the ECU to allow the compressor to be on. The evaporator can't be freezing (per sensor), the compressor can't be too hot (per a sensor onboard), the refrigerant pressure can't be too high, and it can't be too low. There is a dual pressure switch on the receiver dryer... at least on my 1997. I would download your FSM (Factory Service Manual) at http://www.phatg20.net to read up on the diagnostic procedures. I think it's there. You'll need to google for the freeware to decompress the .rar file you download - then you'll have a nice .pdf copy.

I had to replace the evaporator on my 97 truck, so I spent a lot of time reading that stuff.

Good Luck!

Make sure the refrigerant amount is correct.1.43 lbs+/-.11lbs.Check the evaporator for freezing, and if it is,move the thermister to the center of the core.
