So I found out the hard way that my compressor isn't aligned as it should be. I put a new belt on a new compressor I recently installed- The belt whistled for a little bit afterwards then I drive it to get charged- NO BELT! It ripped itself off and I now can visibly that the crank and tensioner are aligned- the compressor is about .5-.75" too far torwards the front of the car. Everything bolted up with ease- lines, brackets, electrical connector. There does'nt seem to be any way to move the compressor back either. Please tell me someone knows how to fix this. Thanks in advance!Devin

uh there's something else that's wrong aside from just that. It shouldn't be hard to line up the 4 bolts holding the compressor bracket nor the other 4 bolts holding the compressor to the bracket. Verify that they're the right parts then get the new belt.

thats the thing. all 4 bolts are in, with no room to move fowards or backwards. the bracket was never messed with either, but maybe thats whats misaligned. I'll double check the part no., but everything fit perfect- except the pulley- which was half an inch off.

ok well I just measured the old and new compressors. the pulley on the new one is whats off. you can see on the old one the spacing between the compressor and pulley, then see how its spaced farther on the new one. so it is the compressor pulley for sure. is there a way to tighten it back or anything? thanksDevin

The thing is you need a special tool to deal with the clutch of the ac compressor iirc. If you were going to take it to a shop to get it filled up, I'd have them deal with your pulley issue as well.

Thanks alot for your help, I'm talking with the company that sold me the compressor, hopefully they'll help me out. I just thought it may have been something I installed incorrectly or could fix myself.
