My a/c compressor clutch is done for and I really dont care to fix it and then have to pump 2 lbs of r12 aka liquid gold back into the compressor when Im done. Can I just take the belt off and detatch the compressor and everything will be cool? or is there some kind of bypass with the belt I have to do? Also I dont know much about compressors... (except that mine is officially dead weight) how do I remove it? And my last question is: I am planning on doing an sr swap before long and at that time I am hoping to have a/c... probably a dumb question but when I buy an sr does it come with the a/c compressor? and are sr a/c compressors r12 or 134a?Edit:In case it matters I have a ka24e

not 100% sure on the ka24e but on the ka24de all u have to do is unhook all the ac lines there is 2 of them then un hook the 1 eletrical connection then loosen and remove the belt and its all disconnected.

all u have to do after this point is just un bolt it from its bracket and remove it you can also remove the bracket as well.

Take the belt off and get a shorter one, disconnect all a/c lines, remove bumper to remove condenser, remove that little canister thing on the pass side of the bay, remove a/c pump, remove bracket. You can now step INTO your engine bay and touch the floor no problem.

That is the answer I want to hear! where do I unhook the ac lines? and where is the electrical connection to unhook?

It sounds like you have done this before... do you have pics by any chance?

Of the process, no. But I can snap a pic of the drivers side of the bay to show that it's not there anymore? Lol.

the 2 lines u disconnect are on the back top section of the ac pump its self they look like silver alum blocks with one bolt holding them into place. and the little eletrical connection is on the bottom back of the compressor. its only one small wire it just unplugs.

before you disconnect, most shops will pay to suck out r12. if you still want to do it yourself, do it outside, with a mask, and once you crack it open, get away. stuff is awful for you and will make you feel like s***. prefferd way is to have a shop evacuate it. you dont need a shorter belt. just take the belt off. on the e, theres three bolts for the compressor, on the de theres 4. keep all your stuff that way when you get the sr, you still have the hoses and then convert it to r134(round 50 buks)

Thats what I thought... I had all the belts off recently and I remember the a/c compressor having its own belt... but I could have remembered wrong...

You can dis connect all the lines, by unbolting them from the firewall, (Passenger side right behind intake manifold) it's 2 silver hoses.
