I haved searched for this topic with no success before posting...

Well I have a 93 240 with the stock KA. A couple of months ago my A/C just stopped blowing cold in the car, I check the fuse under the dashboard and it was burnt out so I replaced it and the A/C was nice and cold again. Well it only took about 10 minutes for the new one to burn out as well. Every time I replace the a/c fuse it burns out anywhere between 1 minute --1 day. My neighbor, who work as a volvo tech. told me its my compressor clutch...? Have you guys ever heard of the a/c fuse just burning out repeatedly? And while the fuse does last, the a/c works just fine. Any info I can get would be great like where its located on the car and where i might be able to pick one up. Thanks in advance.

Do you have the proper fuse?

I thought the fuse just powered the relay behind the driver headlight??? I could be wrong though.

Yes I have the proper fuse. to bad it only lasts about 10 minutes cause the heat in south florida is brutal when you have no a/c. Unfortunately I dont have 300+ dollars do give to somebody to have it diagnosed and repaired. If somebody knows where the a/c compressor clutch is on the car that would be real helpfull. thanks.

Same thing happened to me on my 95 G20. Ck your compressor. It is most likely going bad. I replaced.

The compressor clutch is failing on the compressor. The compressor clutch is a large electro-magnet. When power is applied to the clutch, it energizes and "pulls" itself onto the compressor pulley. More than likely there may be some corrosion on the inside of the clutch and when power is applied, it is shorting out on the corrosion and creating a dead-short, thus, blowing your A/C fuse. I think that you may be able to replace the compressor clutch, but usually we replace the compressor as a hole since it is easier and less trouble-some to do.
