Ok, I've got a 82 720 and I would like to charge the stock A/C. I have charged lots of systems old and new, but I can't seem to locate the port to charge the system. Am I just totally blind? lol. PO had removed the belt because it wouldn't work :squint: (thanks guy). The A/C light turns on, and the blower goes, but I wanted to see if the system was charged. Thanks in advance.

Check on the back of the compressor, mine has a dealer installed system on it and the low side charging valve is located there and it's easily accessed via the left front fender opening. On my 4x4, I can service the AC without even opening up the hood since it's so easy to access thru the fender opening.

Being that mine is a dealer installed system it is a little different and I found that out the hard way after ordering a new expansion valve and reciever dryer that didn't fit, the hose routing on mine is also different from the factory service manual so I really can't guarantee the position of the factory installed systems, but it's safe to assume it's in the same area. Otherwise, just follow your low side hose from the firewall to the compressor since the low side service port will be either at the compressor or somewhere close to the reciever dryer.

If it's at the compressor like mine is, you should be able to see it from the left front fender opening right next to the steering box, it's also mega easy to service from there since there's nothing in it's way.

Have you done the R-134 conversion yet? it's also really easy to do if not, and I can help you diagnose your system if it's full but not cooling... the culprit is the expansion valve 99% of the time, just change out that and the reciever dryer and you'll be back up and running. The expansion valve on the factory installed units is installed on the evaporator so it's a little more difficult to get to to swap out, but still not that bad.
