So I hit the track with some of my G6 buddies this evening. The tree was only working intermittently and they seemed to have a multitude of other problems going on...I pull up with my friend...arms drop...we race... As soon as we got back to the lot, we checked our times... 20 seconds?!?! Something screwy is going on here... Then I noticed it said I apparently had a 7 second reaction time.........

...oh, so the computer's on the fritz then! *sigh of relief*

From the only run that seemed to be clocked properly, it looked like I pulled off a 15.9. I didn't warm up my tires and was getting a lot of wheel-hop... On the plus side, I kept up with the G6 until about 45mph and then he just pulled away to win by almost two car lengths Oh well, not bad for a 2.5 against whatever size their V6 is! Oh, but I smoked him on the AutoX track!

Has anyone else taken their 2.5 to the track yet? I'd like to know the times other people are running.

Also, I got a lot of comments on the car. Most of them were about the LED running lights...by the guys running Audis! I just sent Oznium alot of business tonight.... Snapped a shot in the Costco parking lot afterwards just for kicks...

15.9 isn't bad. i know the 2005 and 2006 Altima 2.5s stick shifts did 16.2 and they had the same power. so a .3 sec improvement isn't bad. so what mods do you have done besides an intake?

Keep in mind that the clock was really screwy, so that might not be at all accurate.Other than suspension stuff, the intake is the only power mod I've got. I did take EVERYTHING out of the trunk (lighting equipment, spare tire, floor liner, etc), as well as all crap I had floating around inside the car too...and it was relatively cold out too which I'm sure helped a bit.

lol when i went to the track i took out my spare tire, tire jack, back seat lol and the 13.9 i got was when it was like 60 degrees out lol in 100 degree weather i did a 15 point something lol i think the lowering springs can help a little bit. because when you take off the weight transfers to the back and the front sorta lifts up a little which gives you less traction and stuff. if the rear springs are stiffer it reduces the front end lift....

i'm going to go to the track probably next month and by then ill have a electronic exhaust cut-out before the cat and maybe even have the car lowered so hopefully ill hit that 13.8 i've been going for

Im guessin your buddy had the G6 Coupe, and if hes takin it to the track my guess would be he has a 3.6L with 252hp 251tq.

Id say you did pretty good against him...lol i doubt he'd go to the track with the 3.5L, thats only puttin down 219hp and 217tq and the G6 is at least 500lbs heavier than our 2.5

The car feels about as fast or faster than my 05 V6 frontier, and they were getting mid to high 15s with them. I wouldn't be surprised if you could drop down to a mid 15 with some work on that track's clock!

Yup, the G6 coupe. We were both having problems with wheel hop last night so we were kinda bogging our launches a bit. According to the spectators, we seemed to have some of the best reaction times of anyone at the track last night so that was good to hear! haha

I don't know what to say man...I've been doing this stuff for a while now and I just kinda do my work based on intuition. I partially used Photomatix for this one. However, I found that it didn't give me the precise control I wanted. Basically I mapped it out in Photomatix until it looked okay, then I did some more precise editing manually in PS.

Also, here's a hint...

...add a slight vignette to the shot to really make the subject stand out!

Shhh...don't tell anyone.........

BTW, those shots of yours of the GT-R at the dealership are probably among my favorite automotive HDR shots I've ever seen. They just looked...evil.

I agree. The QR has a stupid amount of torque for a four-banger, that's why I can keep up with most cars until about 60km/h. It also makes is ridiculously fun in touge and auto-x.

On a side note, it's funny how many people still comment on "how nice my 350Z/G35 looks"...even at the track!

Well, I was pretty sure this year was going to be their last (because of land appropriation by the City of Calgary)...but apparently not. They were pretty much shut down for the season, but at the last minute (Wednesday) decided to reopen the track for what will probably be the last time for 2008. Since it was so last-minute, not alot of people showed up so getting track time was easy!

Awwww thanks guys! That really means alot. However, I'm probably done with modding the coupe now...I'm getting married next year and we'll probably be reproducing shortly thereafter and the AC just isn't car-seat friendly, y'know? Odds are good that I'll be getting rid of it when that time comes. That being said, I'm not sure I'm gonna be keeping my dual projectors when I get them.....
