Nice coupe and awesome story! It's coming together nicely keep at it. I feel for you man. I agree with some of the other posts. Keep school as your #1 priority for now but hey if you have some extra money after rent, food and the things you need why not. And fix that credit score. It'll help you in the long run. Best of luck bro done a good job with it so far.

man after reading this i realized i haven't been through s*** lol but that's how i started modding my car from a base model 4 lugger kouki to the car you see in my sig. I took a while and a ton of work and just about all of the 300 dollar paychecks i took home every two weeks but i enjoyed it. YOU CAN DO IT! but don't make it interfere with your long term goals and plans

good to hear you are back on your feet, keep us updated! That's crazy to think that it was going to be crushed with that front on

I <3 white silvia coupes

hah thanks again guys, extremely chill people and responces here.

Thnks Jeff, that was why I partially went on a rant when that homeless guy came up and asked us for money while we were exchanging parts. That junk makes me mad.

Anyway guys, Im re-painting the car again tomorrow, Ill include tons of pics.

Alright guys, Im having some family issues, so too take my mind off things, I bought 45$ worth of paint and supplies and decided to repaint my car since the current paint job looked like big bird dropped a deuce on my ride.

The current paint job had no clear coat, had zillions of scratches, and felt like 320 grit sandpaper. I also tried pulling off the door/fender trim to reveal the OEM black lines, but as you can see I couldn't get some of the fender trim off. My plan was just to paint the car entirely white, which I accomplished quite well in my mind. Took me about 6 hours from start to finish.

Ok, first step was drive 2 hours to a friends house with a driveway and compressor. Heres how the car looked when I arrived (splotchy single stage paint with no clear coat):

Next plan of action is to wet sand the entire car to get her nice and smooth and to get rid of the gritty-ness. I had tons of 500 grit sand paper in my trunk so I used what was on tap.

After wet sanding the car it was time for me to wash the car with Dawn dishwasher soap, wipe her down with a tack clothe, then get the joker taped and papered up: Note for those do it your selfers, go grab yourself a ton of thrifty nickle papers from the grocery store, it will save ya loads of....nickles (ok Im lame, I admit)

After getting her wrapped up I sprayed on a light coat of gray sealer, so I had a clue as to where I was painting and could keep a straight and steady pattern.

After spraying the sealer I let it flash for 45 minutes, wet sanded her with 1000 grit to get some of the gritty-ness off and re-scuffed her back up with a rough sponge and dawn dishwasher soap. After the paint dried, I sprayed on 2 coats of super white from an 03 Pontiac Grand Prix. It sucked because I didnt buy enough paint nor reducer. So I had to stretch the paint I did have. After the paint settled in I clear coated the car, unfortunately I ran out of clear coat, but got pretty much everything clear coated as well. Theres some streaking with the clear coat, but once I block it with 1500 ten 2000 grit it will look pretty dang good. Heres the finished result after several coats of clear (which I hustled up on because it was starting to get dark and cold).

Thats currently how she sits. Ive painted this car so much within the last year Im sure she has issues with figuring out who she is. I like the white paint far more then the bass boat gray. Plus this was my first time using a real spray gun and large compressor. What do you guys think? Next project is getting the front bumper to bolt up with no gaps.

I joined this site not knowing anything aswell about 240 or Nissan in general, but there are some cool people on here that can help out and the knowlege is endless. I hope my build will come along as nice as yours.
