hey wassup guys i have a choice of a 95 240sx se for 7250.00 obo or a 97 240sx se for 11995.00 with 56,000 miles on it. dont know how much miles are on the 95. the only problem is that the 97 is a auto. i would like to go with the 97 because it is from a dealer, but was wondering how much of a hassle it would be to swap transmissions on the car. any info would be great thanks

swapping auto to 5spd sucks. wiring hassle. but hey if youre willing then go for it. but i think thats too much for a 97.

even if your not interested in mine, both those are way way way to expensive. I got a lead on a great auto 98' problem is it has a bad transmission, but it would be an awesome project car.

if you pass on this your crazy. compared to what you were going to pay this is like robbing a bank.

just because its at a dealer doesnt mean anything. dealers ushually rip you off way more than personal sellers.

I got my 95 for 5300, and it should in no way go up since I got my car. And thes14project's deal is great. If I didnt live so far away, not to mention in cali where its just a matter of time till I get pinched. Id no doubt take his deal.

what a coincidince... i own both those years.

I payed 2k for my 95, had a blown headgasket, but it had IHE, coils and springs, electric fan, etc dropped 500 on anothe KA, and ~ 1000 total doing the auto/man transmission swap. so all in all, i spent ~ 3500 on it. Paying 7 grand for a 95 is rediculous. Because of the sudden popularity of these cars, I could probably sell mine for 6 right now, but even I think that might be a bit high.

I payed 9250 for my wifes automatic, silver moss 97 240 about a year ago. had 68,000 miles on it.

If i were you, i'd go for the 97, as the dealer i got mine from wanted damn near 13k for it from the get-go. So if i talked him down almost 4k, you could stand to do the same.

5 speed swaps aren't hard in the least bit. sourceing the parts is the worst part, but the wiring is cake. you jumper the "park" sensor so you can start it, run the reverse wires to 2 plugs down from that, run 3 wires into the cabin to tap into the ECU (one for neutral, one for 5th and a common ground) and your done with the wiring. If you opt to go for the 5 speed swap, let me know if you have any questions. I'd be happy to help out.

first off, what year is yours. i think only the 96's came with that grille that is cut out. the 95's had a piece going across the middle. i just got some of that guttergaurd $hit and cut it out very carefully untill i got it to fit in the grille and i used wires to tie it in.
