is the maintenance required light the same as the check engine light? just curious because im about to purchase a q. the car has high miles (171k). motor runs good and revs freely but has a slight exhaust leak, the maint req light is on, has a gash on the rear bumper and has a small dent. 5500 is the price.

Please read the sticky above about how to buy a Q45.

The CEL should be diagnosed with a Consult or OBD II scan and addressed, at the minimum. $5,500 seems a little high in its present state.

What does the Infiniti dealer performed service history reveal? What does the inspection report form the Senior Infiiniti Tehcnician you hired reveal?

I would take a big pass on that car. You can steal 97-99 Q's in the used market and this is just about the time some of our senior citizens would part with a Q they bought...find one for a few grand more that has a solid history. I bet you can find one under 10k easily that is 2x better than this one.
