My interior heater/AC blower is stuck on full blast, won't shut off. All fan controls don't work. In searching I've seen mention of the fan blower resistor, and there is a service bulletin on this. Any help would be great.

Our Pathfinder developed the same problem. I searched and found out that if you have the auto temp control (like our Pathy), then it is not caused by a simple resistor (like the ones in the illustrations on this site). It is some kind of fan control amplifier-thingy.

I went to the Nissan dealer's parts counter, and after explaining the problem and showing the guy the part name, he knew exactly what it was. Had seen it many times before.

I will check back here and if you still need the exact info, I will get the invoice for the part in my files and give the part number and exact name and where I found the info on the net.

It looks like a big connector with a visible computer chip and a big silver vaned radiator looking thing on the back. It is clearly visible next to the blower motor behind the glovebox (after removed).

It's a cinch to replace and it immediately saved me a dealer appointment, labor costs/diagnosis, and wait time. It cured the problem immediately (phew!). The part was not cheap (around $150) and not returnable, so I was very happy the whole thing worked out on my own.

Good Luck.

Yeah if you don't mind posting the part #, it'd be of great help.

The part number is: 27761-70T03 Module Assy-PowIt is officially called an AC Blower Amplifier.

It cost me $153.32 + tax (not concerned about getting the best price since having the fan on high all the time drove my wife nuts for the two days it was acting up!)

One other suggestion... you're gonna have to take apart the glovebox door and compartment behind it (easy enough). While back there, change out the cabin filter (another Nissan item) since you will have everything apart anyway. Kill two birds with one stone. That thing (if equipped, gets really nasty).

Good Luck!

Cool! You're Welcome.

Funny... it's a common problem, but there is so much misinformation out on the net about the cause and remedy. It took me 2 days in June to sift through it all and be confident enough about the correct part. Almost everwhere, it was stated the problem was a simple resistor. But, the Auto Temp Control equipped vehicles don't have dedicated speeds, but a sort of graduated and linear up and down to the fan speed, hence the more sophisticated AC Blower Amp.

Anyway, good luck with the DIY fix... it always feels good to save some money and time.

Bump.

The part number for the fan amplifier (resistor for those with auto temp. control) is as stated in my second post.

This just happened to my 2002 pathfinder. I ordered the part throught the courtesy website, got the part in one day. Took out the glove box with 7 screws, and replaced the part. Nice and easy. Thanks everybody for posting the information! You saved me a trip to the dealership.
