OK..here's a good one...I finally took my Q into a Nissan dealer yesterday and the mechanic hooked up his fancy computer/scanner and couldn't get the onboard to throw off ANY data....said his couldn't communicate with mine! Was scratching his head and charging me by the hour....all fuses and relays seemed OK......what could possibly be wrong? I still just want to fix my ABS SLIP TCS and criuse control....this is so perplexing! Will try anything reasonable! Thanks!

Have you replaced the ABS relay?

If not, I'm going to say it one more time-I had the EXACT same problem, ABS, SLIP TCS lights on (97 Q) and I replaced the ABS relay and it fixed the problem. It is a $20 part and took FIVE minutes to replace.

Bullitandy.....my cruise control went out at the same time the lights came on(abs, tcs, slip) on dash....I guess I wasn't clear enough on the explanation: the shop computer couldn't read anything from the OBD system-it wouldn't send any info at all...this was a first for the mechanic...and I could tell he was stumped-said I'd have to leave it a couple of days so he could check it out......he said he didn't really think all 3 relays were out on the system, but couldn't check any codes...so,a catch-22........thanks,Doug in Texas

I had a similar problem and the dealer couldn't figure out what was wrong after suppsedly plugging into my car for 2 days. I told them to check on the ABS relay first, but they ignored me, and after all the time they spent found that the ABS relay was apparently doubly defective and not signaling its failure to function properly to the diagnostic system. The dealer charged me $330 for the diagnoses and relay.

Not to be rude but I'm going to drive out there and replace that relay myself!!

I am very, very confident that yor ABS relay is bad. Why? Because I had the exact same problem and was fixed by replacing the relay.

Again, it is a $20-25 part and takes FIVE minuts to replace. Why don't you just replace it? You've been chasing this problem for months. Forget the codes, just replace it. I repeat, just replace it.

BullittAndy...I think you might be on to something with my '99 q...The TCS/SLIP/ABS dash lights are all on and they came on at one time in a severe rain storm with my cruise control on..it now doesn't engage and the lights stay on....You told me to change the relay, but which one as there are 3 of them near the ABS pump on the firewall....or do you mean ALL three? I will order from the fellow in Arizona-?- forgot his name...Thanks,Doug(dodiho) in Texas

The "ABS" relay is related to all three systems (ABS, SLIP, TCS). It is one relay, but is labled the "ABS" relay by parts departments.

Just ask for ABS relay, you will get the correct part.

I moved your quote so that this thread stays coherent and future searchers will find the answer to their problems.
