Sorry to say that there are no choices left out there in production. Espelir and Tein both made springs for the Cima (Japanese version of our car) but sadly all out of production. I had my teins and KYB SR Specials, blew out a shock in the front and had no choice but to do coilovers. I wouldn't do it again, if I had it to do over, just too rough of a ride. The car handles like a go cart but on bouncy highways it is a bucking bronco to drive. It is serious fun sometimes, however.......so you can get BC Coilovers or Megan coilovers for the car for around $1200. I had serious alignment issues after so I had to put in adjustable tension rods which were modded from S13 ones.

I would tell you unless you like a VERY stiff ride just get new OEM struts/shocks and call it a day. You will be very unlikely to find a set of Teins or Espelir's left out there but you can hunt, they may exist somewhere. When I got mine I had to source from japan.

Well, that's unfortunate. This is my first post and I'm in the same boat as the OP. I just purchased a 98 to bring back to life last week and over the weekend I managed to picked up a set of staggered (20's) MMR-HR 3's. So all that's left is suspension.

So basically the only option for us is coilovers or factory replacement?

When purchasing coilovers, is it a good idea to purchase used? If going with new, which MFG is top of the line?

Thanks in advance.

Bad news, sorry but this is what you got. The OEM route will be expensive but is for sure going work and give you a nice ride. The car will be what it was intended, a decent handing but nice ride. I choose to move to the lowering springs and KYB SR Specials from people that imported them for Japan, and it was not for the damn left shock blowing out I would still be a most happy camper. When that happened I had 2 choices, buy new shocks and springs from Infiniti of Scottsdale mail order for $1400 in parts or buy B/C coilovers.

I went with the coilovers, which have not been okay, but they are VERY VERY stiff and I had alignment issues which my mechanic fixed by making up some adjustable tension rods...BUT that created some balance issues over 75 MPH which now my mechanic feels is Wheels but I have to invest in new wheels to eliminate.

Bottom line if you want to do a daily drive see if you can search hard and long for a set of KYB SR Specials from Japan with the stock springs Hard to find. If you do not need to build a daily drivers and want a stiff car then the B/C's will work, but the ride will be ROUGH...but it handles like a mo' fo'.

Let me know if you have more [email protected]

Thanks for the feedback! I lucked out and purchased a nice set of JIC Magic coilovers. Just waiting on them to arrive from overseas.

$680 Shipped. They haven't arrived just yet but the description and pictures from the seller claim/show to be in phenomenal condition.

Wow that is very cheap, if they work you found a gem. I paid $1200 for the B/C's, they are made in USA, hopefully JIC's are good quality and they fit!
