Just purchased this 1999 Infiniti QX4 from original owner who took great care for it! But the first time I opened the glass on the tailgate, it will not close to catch or latch. I have read several posts about problems with the tailgate but none of them address the problem I'm having. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to get the glass to latch again? I PROMISE I will NEVER open the glass again!

Well, it's open right now, right? Check the lock assembly, make sure it's not stuck closed.

Yes, it's open now...lock assembly is open and will close when I lift the glass...but when letting the glass down, the glass part of the lock (striker?) does not activate the lock. I have tried several attempts with the key, remote, and inside door lock/unlock.

The FSM shows lock and striker adjustment procedures. This might help.
