99 QX4 catalytic converter help please!

Hey everyone I’m hoping I can find some answers here! My 99 QX4 is failing emissions in CO for NoX running 3.7k passing is under 2k. My car never gave any codes except a bank 1 exhaust system for a week so I though I would replace the cat on that side. Well everywhere I looked it shows 4 cats 2 front and 2 rear I ordered a rear left and went to put it in and my QX4 doesn’t have the rear cats just pipe! Is this normal? I thought they all had 4 I’m going to return it and get a front one but I’m really wondering why it doesn’t have rears on either side and if it’s suppose to have them or not.

Maybe I’m just dumb I never actually looked at the manual they just had the parts for it on rock auto so I figured it would it have it maybe a California only thing but good to know it’s not missing them

For the '99 QX4 made for California, there is a difference. The CA made QX4 exhaust tubes have a resonator baffle but the non-California made vehicles do not. Those resonators might look like catalytic converters and way too many parts suppliers indicate them as such and charge accordingly as if they were actually high priced cats when they are not cats at all. Whether it's an ordinary exhaust tube like you see on page FE-9 or one with a baffle as shown on page FE-10, a decent aftermarket replacement will cost less than $100. $50 if it's just an ordinary exhaust tube.
