99 q45t with egr & knock sensor codes
My mechanic thinks egr might be clogged is setting off knock sensor and maybe by doing a full fuel system cleaning(injectors, through gas tank, & through intake) will blow out anything in egr and fix both codes. My acceleration is a little sluggish sometimes unless i step on gas more, when starting rpm's drop low before returning to normal idle, and gas mileage is only about 13 mpg. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Well, we can tell your "mechanic" is not an Infiniti technician and has little familiarity with the VH41DE.
You don't describe recent maintenance efforts or even the mileage of the car as requested in the sticky in this Forum.
In short, there is a tube fro EGR gas distrbution inside the plenum that is probably coked up. Once you remove your plenum, you will be able to verify this and note that the plenum and the lower runners need to be cleaned. Be sure to have all gaskets on hand for IAC and EGR valves.
This will also be an excellent time to replace spark plugs if needed and especially to replace the valve cover gaskets if they haven't been replaced for the last 40K -60K miles. It will save you a ton of labor later.
