Is there any trick to removing the alternator? I removed the radiator hose mount, the 2 bolts, loosened and removed the belt and all electrical connections and the damn thing still will not come off. Thanks.......

I did it @ 5 years ago. IIRC, it's the installation that's a bit tricky, requiring you to glue/preposition a nut. Please refer to the link below, page EL-29 for Removal/Installation

Below is a thread which also covers alternator R%R.

Loystock's comment applies more to a VH45DE and not the VH41DE which is much simpler.

Are you sure you removed the proper bolts? There are several other bolts around the alternator that don't actually attach to it.

Installation Tip: In back of the alternator, there is a stamped metal bracket with several nuts welded to it. This bracket isn't bolted to anything other than the alternator, so soon as you remove the bolts on the old alternator, the bracket will fall out of place. You can use a hot melt glue gun to temporarily glue the bracket to the back of the new alternator before slipping it into place.

Yes, the reinstall was the pain in my opinion. Mostly because of the bracket everyone is talking about. I used a thin piece of wire to hold the bracket while I put the alternator on. Just be glad it's not the 4.5. That looks like a lot more work than the 4.1.

My car is for sale:

Would be great to have it go to a Q fan.

After you remove the pivot bolt at the bottom of the alternator, you have to lift it straight up.
