I went to a locksmith and asked if I could get a key made.He siad I have to have two keys to be able to make a copy, because some code sequence. Is that true? If i had two keys I would not need an extra key.Can I go to the dealership and have extra keys made, without haveing two keys? How much does the key and programming usually cost? I have seen transponder keys on Ebay for 52.99 for two keys. The seller gives you a list of locksmiths where you could get them programmed.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...40016

Go to this website http://www.nvo.com/chipkeys/infinitikeys/ or this one http://www.streetkeys.com/

You will have to reprogram the keys. A basic locksmith can cut the teeth, an advanced locksmith can cut the teeth and reprogram the keys to match the transponder as needed. A dealer will be able to do all of this for you with a bit of a fee. Transponder programming requires specialized equipment...at least on nissan/infiniti. On Fords, there is a way for end users to do it themselves.. Find out from your local dealer what you are looking at price wise.. Maybe someone here knows a way to program transponders without the dealer being involved..
