Hi all,
I bought a Q45 (146,000 mi) a couple months ago and a couple weeks after buying it I started to feel the transmission jerk.
When the engine is cold it shifts smoothly, but when the engine warms up it jerks from 1st to 2nd and sometimes from 2nd to 3rd. Downhill it changes qickly and I cant feel a jerk. While going uphill it seems to take a while to switch gears; I can feel the gear disengage and after what seems like a couple seconds I can feel the next gear engage, but it doesn't slip.
I drained about 5-6 qts of atf then refilled it with Mobil 1 Syn, but it hasn't made any difference.
I'm hoping the transmission is still alive and will last me a few years. I'm in L.A. if anyone is around.
ATF cooler? TPS? Dirty ATF screen?
I'm wide open for suggestions, thanx.

Welcome to NICO!! Its kind of odd that when its cold it shifts smooth..

When you drained the fluid, how did it look? IF the fluid didnt look too bad, then it could be an electrical issue but if the fluid was nasty then that means internal damage has been done.

The fluid was pinkish. No grit or any other particles.
I don't have any lights coming up on the dash. I'm going to check out the filter/screen soon.
What kind of electrical problem should I look for?

Find a place that can do a complete flush..nearly 100% of the old fluid will get pushed out. And spend a little more and opt for Amsoil or Redline fluid, you should be able to get 12-14 quarts in of fresh fluid. At that point if you still have an issue I think you'll be looking at bigger issues down the road, but after I switch to Redline I found the transmission like "butta".

Good luck, also think about flushing brake, power steering and rear end fluids with Redline or Amoil as well.
