I have a 99 Pathfinder (90+ miles) and the accelerator is sticking. I can punch it and it is ok, but this morning was the worst. We have tried WD-40, doesnt' seem to help. Would appreciate any ideas. TNT in Texas

Tammie ,if your still around first let me appoligize for you not getting a timly response to your question or having it moved to a more appropriate forum by the staff.

Welcome to Nico .

Your problem is likely due to a carbon build up around the throttle plate inside the throttle chamber. This is a very common occurance on many cars, this is usually resolved by pulling the boot off the throttle chamber and using a can of carb cleaner and a nylon brush(old tooth brush. hold the throttle plate open, spray some cleaner on the black ring that has developed around the chamber and the blade edge of the throttle plate, use the brush to clean it off, wipe up the excess cleaner and carbon mess, rinse once more with cleaner then put it back together and fire it up. be aware it may smoke a bit when you start it dont be alarmed as it is just the carb clean burning off.

Thanks for the info. I did have to take it in to the shop tho, my brakes needed work, so I asked them to check on the pedal. They did exatly what you said and I haven't had any more problems. It's nice to have this resource.

ThanksTammie
