I recall reading about a TSB addressing the shakes at 60-70MPH .My wife's 1999 Path is getting worse and worse . Wheel balance done yet again , but no relief . My mechanic tells me it needs new tires+shocks+alignment ????. But tires are good ( 20Kmi on this second Dunlop set , normal wear rate visually ), car tracks straight. only 60Kmi. on car . It feels like something is loose in the steering box / rack / etc.

we have done a steering rack on one of these for something similar. but some slight toe-in wear was associated with that one vehicle.

Nistech - thanks for your help , Let me know if you find anything . Also , the tires appear to wear normally on my Path, Maybe slightly more wear in the center of the tires . I keep pressures at 30 PSI all around .

Don't assume that tires are vibration free because they are not worn............20,000 miles is an extremely long time for many/most tires to stay round...........how much inner and outer weights are on the wheel..........anything over 1/2 ounce [14 grams] per side tells you there are problems.Car tires should be half the amount of truck/SUV tires: 1/4 ounce [7 grams] per side.

the tsb you spoke of lists several causes for vibration between 60 and 70 mph and is not specific to any one problem. the list primarily focuses on tire related issues but makes mention of rack having excessive slop and requires an adjustment if it is found out of spec.
