My girlfriends 99 Maxima v6 hasn't ran in a while. I've been working on it but can't figure out anything. It cranks fine. It has spark, and it won't run with starting fluid, so I assume its not a fuel issue either. After its been sitting for a night or so it will start for about 2 or 3 seconds then die and not start anymore.

This all happened after I changed the battery although there were issues with it cutting out before that. But it did start fine.

We brought it to a well known mechanic, and he can't figure it out. He seems to think it has something to do with the security system.

A long time ago, before these issues, the alarm continued to go off after starting the car. so someone pulled the alarm system fuse. That has since been replaced.

Is there anyway to disconnect the security system so I can rule it out?

Again, the car only runs for a few seconds, then won't start again until it sits for a while. It has spark and fuel. Please please please help. I'm sure it is something simple and it will run great after we find it.
