My 1999 Maxima with a 5 speed and LSD needs a new(different) transmission-at least until I can rebuild the existing. Is the LSD 5 speed interchangeable with the non-locking diff model? I will have to change the left drive shaft, but other than that. thanks.

I believe they DO NOT interchange. Not exactly sure, but I would think that ECU would be set differently.

Only difference is one of the axles.

ECU wouldn't matter. The VLSD is a mechanical feature not a computer controlled feature.

Speaking of the VLSD I wish I had one

Driver side axle will need to be replaced.
