i have a 1999.5 infiniti QX4 started having problems with the throttle stuck open and revving the engine up. the problem originated when my qx4 started choking and sputtering and at times stalling while im driving. due to the throttle position sensor. i went bought the sensor and replaced it as advise. but after that was changed the throttle was getting stuck open when stepping on the gas pedal but if i rev the engine from the throttle body in throttles down just fine. can someone please help me solved this headache. im trying to avoid a costly expense. thanks....

Sounds familiar. My first guess is that your accelerator cable is probably worn out and the metal threads that form the center wire are breaking apart and dragging on the plastic sleeve it sits in. A new one I believe is around $35 and takes about 20-30 minutes to replace. You can easily verify this by unhooking the cable end at the throttle. Pulling on the wire from either that end or on the pedal end should be smooth and effortless the entire length of travel.
