99 I30T makes a grinding sound after each start

I get a grinding sound for about 3 seconds after each cold start on my 99 I30. Been going on for about a year. Any ideas? (It is a high pitch sound)

Your starter is prbably staying "engaged" after it turns the engine. Pretty common problem, first sign of it going out. I'm surprised it hasn't died yet.

I was thinking that too. Ironically I had taken my car to the Infiniti dealer last summer and they replaced the battery after it quit dead one hot summer day. They told me the alternator was fine after I had described this same problem.
