I have a 1999 i30 with the touring package

Ok, so when I take turns or when my car is warmed up and I've been driving for a while, I can hear this groaning noise as I turn, and when I hit a bump, I can definitely tell the problem lies somewhere within my back axle or something because it makes a noise like I just hit an enormous pothole. shocks maybe? any help or a way to trouble shoot would be greatly appreciated.

You can test your shocks by bouncing the back corners up and down. Lean on the car and get it bouncing up and down pretty good, then let go and step back. If the car keeps bouncing you need new shocks. If the shocks are good it should stop bouncing quickly.

You could have problems with your strut mounts, blown shocks or maybe a wheel bearing. It really depends on what kind of noise you're hearing or problem that's going on.
