My units CD player crapped out and I'm shoppin for a replacement.

Does anyone know the part number for this mofo off the top of their head? I have found a unit from a 00 QX4 which appears identical except for the digi clock function and the price is right. Inquiring minds want to know if this mofo will fit and function correctly before I pony up the funds.

Anyone else who'd like to recommend a different unit as a replacement can opine as well. I'm all ears. And anyone else who would like to rag on me for posting this or for any other reason....please feel free to do so. I'll consider your venting as theraputic (for you) and an important part of your treatment. Mind your meds.

Peace, love, woodstock and reefer madness.

I think you are the coolest NICO member to post. But I am sure the QX4 head unit will fit. Just look at the rear connections or post up a picture and I will tell you.

I always go to "car stereohellp.com" for info about head units and speakers. They also have detailed component removal instructions, which used to be free, but now requires a nominal fee.

Unless you have your heart set on a stock unit, you can go and get a aftermarket double-DIN unit that even does Navigation and works with you BOSE speakers. You will lose the truck DVD but you can read MP3 and connect up an iPod....I am waiting for my 97' to die but it troupes on.

No need to lose DVD with after market, but one must use the correct adapter.

I picked up an identical unit from a parted out car for 75 bucks.

Tossed it in the closet. Now, the original has recovered so I have a spare. Might have to ebay it.

You know that as soon as you sell the spare the original will crap out for good, right?

Yeah, that's why I have waited so long to unload it. Must be a planetary alignment function or something. Maybe I'll just keep it until the car hits 300,000. Then junk the ride and sell the unit.
