The key fob for my 99 Altima's factory car alarm broke a long time ago and honestly I have no real need for the alarm. It's more annoying than anything as it only sometimes will randomly go off when I open the door or trunk with the key or close the hood. And when that happens I have to repeatedly try everything to get it to stop going off: putting the key in the ignition, relocking and closing the door then re-unlocking it with the key, etc.. I'm disabled and rarely leave the house anyway, so if anyone can point me in the direction of either a cheap replacement key fob for the alarm or info on how to just disable the alarm it would be greatly appreciated.

Much appreciated. That does look exactly like the one that came with it when I bought it.

Late update:

I tried buying key fobs for the alarm from 2 different sellers on ebay. I followed the directions provided and even looked them up online and can get into the programming mode by inserting the key 6 times but after that when I press a button on the remote like it says to nothing happens and the remote doesn't do anything. I even tried removing the pre-installed batteries and testing to make sure they were good.

I am thinking it could be something wrong with my car rather than the remotes so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of what I could check on my car that might be the issue?

On older Nissans the SEC/BCM always needs to see the door lock signal in order to take a fob program, and all the door switches need to show closed. Since your alarm was going off randomly, one of those might be screwed up. It's also possible the fobs are lookalikes which aren't coded properly. IIRC the fobs for anti-theft equipped cars were different from the base fobs. Assuming your fobs are the right ones, the factory instructions for programming can be found on EL-200 here:

I still have one of the remotes I purchased and tried it several times again and even tried putting a new battery in and still doesn't work. I opened it and the PCB inside has a logo that says Vabael 2224 on it. From what little I was able to find online. I did see a comment of someone who bought a remote that had the same PCB in it that didn't work and they said they ending up finding one with a different PCB labeled Vabael 2217 and it worked but I have no idea where they found that.

Is there a way to just remove or bypass the Smart Entrance Control Unit and would that just completely disable the alarm system? I've pretty much given up the idea of trying to find a replacement remote and I'm not paying the $50 to $100 people want for an OEM one as I really don't even need/want the alarm system.

On a '99 I don't think the SEC is even on the K-line, so it certainly won't be configurable to disable it. You can't really pull it either, it controls a bunch of other stuff you won't want to disable like the courtesy lights. The only thing you can really do is pull the anti-theft relays (one for the horn and one for the lamps). Then the system may still trigger but it won't do anything.

How would I find and pull those relays if that's what I end up deciding to do?
