Hey guys im new to the forum, wanted to introduce my self and just thank to the people that make these kind of sites possible!!! the information available is astonighing!!

I recently inherited a 99 altima. It had a blown motor and the family had basically thrown it away so i threw a fresh motor in it and some other basics and got the car back on the road. Ive decided to start doing some minor mods to start playing around with it a bit and once i get used to these cars and type of motor and tuning...get into bigger mods and make it a solid street car.....my goal for NOW is to make it a fun car to drive around the city 40-60mph with power throughout the band but focusing on mid and top.....so 3.5k to 7k rpm?

I have been doing a lot of reading between the forums on cam swap options between the KA motors and I learned that for my particular 2nd gen altima....i could use ANY cam from 97 and down altima, s13 and s14 Ka24de motors as my altima intake cam but could only use 98 and up ALTIMA exhaust cam as my exhaust cam because of the distributor. That being said...I was thinking of using a 240 exhaust cam from a 00 or 01 Altima and a 248 cam from either a s13 s14 or altima prior 98 as my intake cam to make a 248/240 combination....

Now I have read and read through a lot of threads for the last three days and only found ONE person with an altima who has done any cam swapping at all....most swaps were on s13 and s14 engines...but the guy has done the 248/240 combination on his 00 altima. but his post was very brief and there wasnt much information about anything. However I saw plenty of posts of the 248/232 combo and the 248/248 combo and the 240/232 combination on s13 and s14 motors but as I understand it....since I have a 98 and up ALTIMA ka24de these combinations arent possible because of limitations of the exhaust cam in my 99 altima.

Im wondering if anyone has a 98 and up Altima KA who has done cam swapping and has a 248/240 combination or different with any good results and what are they? Is there any other combos that one could recommend? ALSO i read a post about a ADJ cam sprocket DIY and was wondering IF I did the 248/240 combo if advancing or retarding the intake cam would get more performance out of this combo? And last...which 248 cam from 97 and prior KAs should I use as my intake cam? They are closely similar as far as lobe height but differ in open and closing degrees and wondered how lenghts in valve over lap would affect performance and at the same time if by making the Adj cam sproket i could make the best of things? here are the specs for Intake Exhaust Cams I found on a thread:

1) ’91-’93 240SX (S13) - Note: '94 exh specs are slightly different

Great question - welcome aboard!

Let me see if I can get our old-school Alty whiz in here...

I recall doing a couple cam swaps on my '93 KA back in the day, and playing with different combinations. As I remember, the differences were minimal - but half the fun is finding that out for yourself!

The older Atly's don't get the love on the forums like they used. I'm glad to see people still wrenching on them though. Personally I prefer my Nissans to be 98 or older.

Congrats on getting her up and running!
