Hopefully I can get the opinion of a Master Tech...
So, 2 years ago this month, I was romping through the Grape Vine (very hilly, hot area N of LA) and blew the transmission pan seal. Leaked very slowly unless fluid got really HOT. Got it fixed: flushed, new seal, new filter, etc.
Worked fine for about a year. Driving N to LA again with a carload of people. Quite a bit windy and I was trying to get up there in haste. transmission starts slipping, BAD. Had to turn around and even then as I was working my way to the shop could barely get it to stay in 2nd for more than 30 seconds. They looked at it and told me they added an "additive" and then it drove perfect again. Got it flushed about a month after that.
Cue to 9 days ago. Driving N to Riverside. Same conditions: Steep hill, 90F temps, highway speeds. Blew the transmission pan seal AGAIN. Haven't gotten it fixed yet, the fluid loss basically only occurs when it gets above normal operating temp.
Now, I don't do a lot crazy driving or offroading. I don't stress my QX to cause the transmission to have issues. Can anyone shed some light?
Cliff notes: Repeat transmission/transmission pan seal problems. Unsure what's going wrong.
