hey Guys..ive been looking around on the forum for the last few days and decided to join. Ive got a 99.5 silver QX4 which i have owned since 2001. I LOVE IT! Got some Lowenhardt LD1 22" rims on some 265/35ZR22 Eagle GT tires. Other than that i have just added the HID bulbs and tinted the front windows to match the factory tint on the back. Threw some JL W6's in the back and off we go. I'll have a pic loaded before long.

BUT i have a nasty problem.

I found this similar topic in a dead post: zer...-trim

the pic in this shows exactly what has happened to mine. Anyone know of a way to fix it? In the post someone mentioned Goo Gone but that doesnt seem like it would make it look any better in terms of matching up with the paint again. Maybe im wrong.Could i just "repaint" it with touchup paint?

Anyone have any input? i appreciate it. The rest of the Q is in good shape so the nasty trim kinda stands out. Its almost a brown color...sucks

On top of that...if anyone knows..the only other things i really need to do to make her new again is repaint the wiper arms (dont know how to get the suckers off) and i have some door dings on the sidepanel guards. I have used touchup paint to cover it but there are still the little divits. not sure if those pieces can be replaced or not.

yea i assume there are alot of owners that have this issue..so hopefully someone has had success fixing it? I have heard from one guy that you can take a toothbrush and goo gone and scrub it to fix...mine has turned a brown so i dont know if the paint is gone or if the brown crap is over the paint..in which case maybe the goo gone would take off the brown crap and BAM..clean paint underneath!...but i dunno. It seems to me as though the rubber is just dried out and the only thing to do would be go over it with some touchup paint. I assume to get them from dealser..painted..would be way more than its worth.

well i finally recieved my bottle of touch up paint from paintscratch.com...i think i am going to tackle the project this weekend. I have the touchup paint (custom mixed using color code and vin), clearcoat, and rubbing compoud. I also have some paint adhesive to apply to the rubber trim pre basecoat.

anyone have any advice before i jump headfirst into it? i plan on testing it on a piece that is covered by the rear door first.
