Last year, I did the fog light mod. I'm using the factory relays, and I have the switch power for the fogs running to the switch power to the A/C.
My driver's side fog light bulb died, so I replaced that. Recently, my passenger side fog light also stopped working, so I got a bulb and proceeded to replace it. Not only was the bulb that was there fine, but I noticed the plastic surrounding the plug for the ground wire was melted (driver's side was perfectly fine). I soldered on a new wire (I'll do it right and get a blade connector soon, lol) and it works fine.
My question is, is using the switch power for the A/C a bad idea? Did this melt the plug, or was it possibly something else? My opinion is that the switch power for a given relay isn't going to be more than the next relay, especially one that's the same exact part.
Note: I had no problems for a very long time.
