Question, has anybody experienced any quirks with a 98Q? Anything I need to watch out for? Mine has 48k, only problem so far, noticed moisture forms inside of left headlamp assembly. By the way I have enjoyed this forum for the past year. Have picked up some good info.

No known quirks or achilleus heel, really.

Just keep up the maintenance (oil changes, plugs, good gas)and u should be fine for many many miles yet.

I've had a '98 since last summer. It now has about 63,000 on it. No real problems. Did have some moisture in the right front headlight when I bought it. I assumed the carlot I bought it from had the nose haning over their lawn sprinkler system.

I dried it out by sticking an edge cleaning tool from a vacuum cleaner on a hair dryer and blowing hot air into it until it was totaly dry. Hasn't come back since.

Also the passenger side power lumbar motor died, but the xtended warranty picked up that little $500 nuisance.

Infinity put a new alternator in it, as part of their recall program.

Did a pretty thorough maintenance at 60k. The thing acts like a new car.

So far, I'm very happy with the purchase.

Seems like I heard Infinti had a fix for the foggy headlamp lens for the 97+ Q... Maybe you can get it replaced with factory goodwill? Just tell them you saw a Ford Aerostar with the same problem so I guess it's hard to make one any better :)

Knock sensor and/or knock sensor harness is only unusual problem (happens on 90-96 Q45 too).

Otherwise just EXCEED the recommended change intervals for fluids and be sure and flush brake fluid, differential fluid, power steering fluid at least every two years. Also good idea to drain and refill the freon since there may be moisture in the system.

There is a factor recall on the front headlamp, take it to a dealership and see if you can still cash in on it. I know my 97' was done before I purcahsed it.

Well this is cool, I'm not the only guy driving a second gen Q on NICO. We're often put into a "lexified" category here and reminded we only have 4.1 liters, but we're bullet proof, we're smooth as sillk, and IMHO we're better looking (and I have a 92' in the garage as well).

BadQ45t, Q451990 are both right. There was a recall.

I boght my 97Q from dealership in June 2000 and while purchasing, they disclosed that they would replace my headlights (both left & right) under factory recall/warranty. Each headlight assembly was running into 300ish..so try to get them to do it..

No problem on this car, really smooth and a true interstate cruiser. In the last 21/2 yrs, I have put more than 50K miles on it. And as everyone has mentioned, just do service more often than what the manufacturer recommends.

Website moderators:I think we should have a linkage in this website as the NICO recommended service schedule for Qs, or for that matter, all Nissan/Infiniti cars, so that, over the time, these cars will surpass toyota/honda reliability records.

Looks wise: I like 97's front grille (has a more upscale look), but I like the 90-96 rear, very distrinct and original!

cheersLong live the Qs.PNSan Jose97 Q45, pewter/gray, 88K miles.

The best thing about the 98 is the wheels :D

I have a 97Q (same model as the 98) and I had to have one of my ABS sensors replaced yesterday. They were pulling my wheels to swap my stock springs with lower Eibachs and they thought that they had damaged my sensors, but their scope showed that they had already been bad before they pulled my springs. They can get rusted or easily damaged, so have them check it out when they scope the car (they can find all this stuff out with their fancy computers)

Don't worry. The member base of 2nd/3rd gen owners will grow as the mileage on these cars piles on.

You are not alone!!! Hey, Pasadena, did you change out your shocks when you did the springs??? Make sure you post some pics so we can see what she looks like when your done with it. I've got some 17" rims waiting to be mounted with 245/50 17 tires, gotta wear out the 16" tires first! I've got the touring model which has the strut bars, thicker sway bars and is generally stiffer out of the factor, but I do plan to redo eventually.

Thank's for the info. I'll contact the dealer and see if they'll replace the assemblies for me. By the way took it in to the dealer to turn my front rotors and replace pads. Rotors were to warped to turn and meet spec., turned into a $574 brake job. I expected as much. I think I read in one of the threads to try and keep those parts o.e.m. Smooth cruising fellow Q's.

Keeping brakes and tires/wheels in oem spec is one of the most expensive areas of Q maintenance.

I had brand new brakes and I mean EVERYTHING was replaced since the PO lemoned my car due to brake issues. In any case after 15k I had to turn the rotors, not used to that from Z and Maxima experience., but it looks like this is standard. Wish Infiniti had put some bigger rotors on these cars!!!!!!!!!

How much does it lower the car?

I was in SoCal last week and found the concrete portions of the interstate pretty brutal ride-wise... let us know if it has a big impact on ride quality.
