98 Sentra GXE Instrument Cluster Interchangability

BLUF - can I put in a 98/99 instrument cluster for a 1.6 liter with a tachometer into my 98 1.6 liter in which the old instrument cluster didn't have a tachometer? Are the hookups in the back the same?

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I have a 1998 Nissan Sentra GXE. I do most of my own maintenance and play around with customization, not performance.

I recently pulled the "put colored post-its behind your instrument panel to change the colors" modification. Worked like a dream. Then I manhandled the speedometer indicator and ripped out the rod and spring along with the needle. Now I'm looking to replace the speedometer. At the price of used speedometers, I might as well spring for the whole instrument cluster. I'm looking to get one with a tachometer because mine only has speedometer, fuel, and engine temperature. I don't feel like finger-tracing a wiring diagram to make this happen, I just want to plug and play. Are clusters for the same year and make interchangable?
