98' QX4 - Low gas mileage

Hello everyone, Im getting really low gas mileage on my QX4 (around 12mpg) and I was wondering what could be the causes, It has around 120k miles on it.

In what kind of driving? I typically see somewhere around 12 in town. I don't take it *too* easy, however. I can get 15.5 - 16.4 on the highway.

It is mostly city driving, I thought the MPG should be around 15 city and 18 highway?... Maybe thats because of the optimistic EPA mileage rating...

My formula for translating the EPA estimates: true mileage = advertised mpg - (like, 3 or 4)

Yeah, it sucks -- def NOT one of the best performers out there :o
