98 QX4 hvac possessed?!

Hello, I am not the owner of this car, it's the Mother-in-law's. The car is 98 QX4, ~83K miles, and the problem has been occuring for several months now. Of course the problem does not occur when she takes the car to the Infiniti dealer in Bellevue, WA.

Here's the problem: Outside temp is, say, 45 degrees. Set heater control to 75 degrees, seems to warm up to a point, but after driving for anwhere between 20-60 minutes, system switches over to A/C and blows cold. I don't have actual data, but would bet that the temp in the passenger compartment doesn't get above 60 degrees. It DOES NOT just allow cooler outside air to enter, the A/C system DOES engage.

are you pressing "econ" or "auto"?if memory serves me right, the manual mentions that "econ" is for heating and "auto" is for coolingalso, if outside temperature is not appropriate for what you've chosen, the climate control will not function properly.hope that helps!
