A few weeks ago the driver side lamp was hit by a rock and created a hole size of a bb. Then came the rain and my headlamp was flooded. Talked to the dealer and they wanted all of my tax refund and wouldn't take IOU. So I am going to do the oven mod method to clean up the reflectors and fill the hole with silicon sealant. Save some $$ and one less landfill item too.

I know the headlamp removal can be tricky thus, anybody know how to do it please shine some lights. It is a 98 QX4.

Oh, I am also thinking about swapping the driver and the passenger seat since the driver size seat is worn out pretty bad. Is it possible? mine are heated seats and I only want to swap the bottom part of the seats. If it can be done, walk-thru please?

TIA

its been a while since I took my lights out but youll need to remove the bottom trim just below the headlight (be very careful), remove the corner lights (1 bolt right on top) POP them out (takes some force) and then theres a bolt on top of the light, another below where that trim piece covers, and then one in between the corner light and the headlamp i THINK, again its been a while

I'm going through a similar situation on a 98 QX4. Whats the trick to getting that trim peice off without breaking it? Everytime I tug at it, it feels like it could snap into bits!

done.

Here is the procedures:1) remove the screw on top of the clearance lamp (FSM: BT-5, D3);2) pull the clearance lamp straight out. no side turning, just straight out. unplug the cable.3) remove the screw on the grill strip under the headlamp, push the clip next to the screw out of the hole, then slide the grill sideway out (FSM: BT-7, G7);4) pull out the radiator grill, there are five clips (CG101), two on each of the headlamp assemblies and one at the center. a noise plier will help. (FSM: BT-6, 4);5) remove the 4 nuts on the headlamp assembly, one on upper-left corner, behind the radiator reserve bottle, two on the right side, one under the bottom center of the lamp, deep inside.6) unplug the electric wire, turn and slide the headlamp assembly out. a clip might be in the way (BT-7, K), just use a flat head screw driver to push it down a little bit.

only tool needed is a 10mm socket.

by the way, I put the assembly in the oven at 280 degree for 10 mintues, no effort to pull apart the cover lens and the housing.

next project is to figure how to remove the bottom cushion and swap them.
